THE AREA

We have access to a huge area- we can put you on a different spot everyday for a week and have secret fishing holes where you will see no one and have all day fishing by yourselves. We also have spectacular dry fly fishing for rainbow and cutthroat...we would like to tell you more about these areas but that is why the fishing is so great...no one knows about them!

The Upper Pitt River enters the north end of Pitt Lake seen from a Helicopter

The Pitt River Watershed is a most unique area in British Columbia and maybe the world. Pitt Lake is the only freshwater tidal lake in North America and is home to 27 species of fish including some of BC's largest sturgeon. The lake is only 5 miles from the mighty Fraser River and from there only 20 miles from the ocean. As you travel up the lake towards the Pitt River you will see steep Pacific Coastal range mountains with snow covered peaks as high as 7000 ft., waterfalls and native pictographs.

When you arrive at the dock at the north end of the lake you will be transported by lodge vehicles 7km up logging roads to the lodge which sits on a grassy parcel of land on the banks of the spectacular glacier fed Pitt River.

The reason this river is so special with world class fishing is that we are surrounded by three parks and are air and boat access only...everything has to be barged in. You will be amazed that you are just 40 miles outside Vancouver and you will feel like you are in a remote inlet in Alaska. We are the only lodge on the entire river system which is 60 km long and only has 6 full time residents. The Pitt River winds its way through steep mountains from Garibaldi Park through three canyons one with a wonderful hot springs which has been rated as the best in BC. You can sit in the hot springs and fish right out of it.

Your fishing adventure will include sightings of deer along the river banks and in the rain forest, eagles and maybe even a black bear or two.

Just over the Mamquam Glacier, the snow capped glacier where it all begins is Whistler...we are the remote side of the well known destination resort village...the one that you cannot access due to the rough terrrain...

Your stay with us at Pitt River Lodge in this remote river valley will be an experience you will never forget and one that you will want to come back for.
